GAUTHIER CELLARS 2006 PINOT NOIR |
Vineyard: Rockin' H Ranch Varietal: Pinot Noir Alcohol: 13.9% TA: 7.48 g/l pH: 3.45 RS: 0.787 g/l Cases: Less than 350 |
This wine came from vines growing on Hendricks Vineyard's Rockin' H Ranch, located where the Petaluma River gently bends towards the San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The location, with cool foggy marine-influenced nights and long summer days, is exceptionally suited to growing Pinot Noir with fruit and spice flavors, acidity and texture in perfect balance and harmony. Winemaker Gauthier began the two-day harvest on September 9, 2006. Fifteen barrels of varying ages were used in the cellar, including a significant percentage of new and one-year old French and Hungarian barrels (more than the previous vinatge), each barrel offering its own oak and toast nuances that enhanced the final blend. The brilliant garnet jewel color of this Pinot offers a visual statement of the depths of its flavors. It brims with roses and allspice, smoked cherry and baked cranberry, and a beautiful integrated ribbon of toffee and caramel. Try this Pinot with the always delicious roasted pork tenderloin medallions, spice grilled chicken breast, or salmon seared with freshly ground black pepper. Be adventurous and discover your own favorite food pairing. Above all enjoy this wine! |
